Brian Boru Heritage Centre

Brian Boru Heritage Centre, Killaloe, County Clare

Brian Boru Heritage Centre is located in the heart of the picturesque town of Killaloe, next to the bridge where the river flow out to Lough Derg. Brian Boru (Bryan Boru) the most powerful and influential High King of Ireland, who drove the Vikings out of Ireland over a millennium ago, was born here.

The Heritage Centre calls to mind the life of Brian and the various buildings and sites associated with him. Among the many links to Brian in the area is the great legacy to the Irish People, the O’Brien Clan.

This Heritage Centre charts the history of Killaloe though an imaginative exhibition, giving details on the theme of Celtic Ireland, tracing the arrival of Christianity and the monastic tradition together with its nautical impact. The Centre offers a wide range of services including cruiser hire and information on the local attractions.
